Overstock used to be the go-to company to find low prices on things like home decor, furniture, kitchen appliances, and even jewelry.
Amazon and other companies have taken a significant chunk of that business, but they still offer some really great deals.
I’ve been asked by a few visitors if Overstock has a military discount, and happy to report that they in fact do!
They are another of the literally 1,000’s of companies in the US that offer a military discount to our veterans, both active duty and retired.
Their Club-O-Rewards program offers military veterans significant savings on a wide variety of items.
Find out how to get this discount below.
About Overstock
Note: Click Here if you want to skip all the fluff and get right to the details of the discount.
Overstock was officially launched in 1997, but was actual originally named D2: Discounts Direct by it’s founder, Robert Brazell.
It was renamed Overstock after it’s acquisition by Patrick Byrne in 1999, and underwent a complete re branding and site makeover.
I can actually remember the first time I saw an Overstock commercial, thinking how beautiful the actress starring in it was.
Here’s a reminder if you’re too young to remember it:
It was one of the very first internet retailers, right alongside Amazon, looking to capture what little internet traffic was out there.

The concept of Overstock.com was simple.
Create a portal where consumers like you and I could get rock bottom prices on “overstocked” goods.
Those goods and excess inventory include things like:
- Home electronics
- Home furnishings like furniture and bedding
- Video games and gaming consoles
- and a lot more
As the internet took a different form throughout the years, the concept fizzled out a bit and competition took over.
Overstock.com has actually taken a right turn and gotten in to the Bitcoin market lately, but they still continue to sell a wide variety of items through their official website.
Overstock’s Military Discount Policy
In addition to their already superb deals, Overstock offers military members and their families a great military discount.
However, it’s not an actual discount in the traditional sense of the word.
You won’t exactly save a certain % on a purchase.
What they DO offer, on the other hand, is a free one year membership to their Club-O loyalty program.
Typically costing $19.95 per year for the average Joe, Overstock offers members of the military a free 1 year membership.
The membership will entitle you to all sorts of perks, including:
- 5% rewards on every purchase
- Free shipping on literally everything
- Free returns
- Earn up to $40 in rewards when you leave a product review
- Price match guarantee
- Access to their extra rewards store
On average, Overstock Club O members earn an average of $55 per year, obviously depending on how much and how often you buy.
The earnings you get from their program automatically apply the next time you go to check out with a purchase.
In addition, free Club-O membership is also offered to:
- Teachers
- Students
- Police Officers
- Firefighters
- Paramedics and EMT’s

How Do I Redeem The Discount?
In order to start saving with Overstock’s military membership program, simply complete the following steps:
Step 1: Click Here to visit their Club O military page.
Step 2: Click on the TroopID button in the middle of the page.
It looks the same both on a desktop computer and mobile device:
Step 3: Create a new account, or login to an existing one if you have one already.
Step 4: Follow the prompts to confirm your military status
Like most other military discounts, Overstock uses TroopID to verify your military credentials.
It’s a very simple, straightforward process that will have you saving money in no time!
2 Other Ways To Save With Overstock
Apart from their military discount, there are several other ways to save money with Overstock.com.
#2 – Sign Up For Their Email Newsletter
One clever way I discovered was to sign up for their email notifications.
You can do this either via the pop up that shows up once you visit their homepage by clicking here.
It will look like this:
Or their form at the bottom of every page:
It will entitle you to 12% off your next purchase, but keep in mind that terms and conditions do apply.
You’ll also want to keep in mind that they will be sending you special offers and emails on the regular.
2. Spin To Win
Another quick and easy way to save on your next Overstock.com purchase is by participating in their ‘Spin to win’ thing.
If you hang out on the site long enough, you’ll see a pop up that looks like this:
Simply click the button that says ‘Spin to win’, and it will ‘land’ on a discount.
For me, I tried it no less than 4 times, and each and everytime it landed on the 15% off coupon.
To redeem it, follow the below step-by-step instructions:
Step 1: Click Here to visit the official Overstock website.
Step 2: Attempt to ‘exit’ the website by moving your mouse towards the X button on your browser.
This is called an ‘exit intent’ popup, and is triggered when the website notices that you’re trying to leave.
To be clear, DO NOT click the X button and leave the site.
Just move your mouse towards that area, and the ‘Spin to win’ wheel will automatically pop up.
Step 3: Click the button that says ‘Spin to win’, and wait for it to do its thing.
Step 4: Once it lands on whatever discount, enter your email and click ‘Unlock X% Off’
Step 5: Check your email. Look for an email from Overstock that has the subject line ‘Welcome – 15% off Coupon On Your Next Order’ and open it.
Once you open it, you’ll see a button that says ‘Activate now’.
Simply click that and you’ll automatically be redirected to the Overstock website, and the 15% off coupon will be automatically added.
You’ll see a little box in the upper right hand corner of the page confirming this.
Conclusion
While you have a huge variety of online retailers to choose from when it comes to shopping online, not all of them offer military discounts.
Luckily, Overstock actually cares about members of the military and their families.
Not only will you be saving with their already low prices, but now you’ll have a reason to shop even more!
