About Marriott
Most people are unaware that prior to getting into the hospitality industry, the Marriott family actually started A&W Root Beer franchise.
What started as a root beer stand in 1927 progressed into multiple A&W locations and the “Hot Shoppes” name being born.
Hot Shoppes progressed into the East Coast’s first drive-in restaurant, offering catering for Hoover Airport passengers and becoming a nationally traded stock.
In 1957 the business made a switch from the restaurant industry into the hotel business.
By 1969 Marriott had opened it’s first international location and slowly started becoming a leader in corporate and extended-stay travel.
Now with over 30 brands, Marriott has become one of the larger hotel companies in the United States and offers discounts to the men and women who are currently serving our country.
You can find the Marriott history information above and more information about its brands here.
