Marine Corps Basic Infantryman (0300 MOS)

The United States Marine Corps Infantry are the forces trained to handle enemies by close combat or with firepower.

The Infantry has access to and training to use a variety of weapons and ways to communicate with one another.

Also, there are a variety of specialties under the 0300 MOS for Infantry.

Therefore, infantry will receive an assignment to a specific area when reporting to the Infantry Training Battalion.

Requirements and Qualifications for 0300 MOS

The requirements for being assigned to the 0300 MOS is the same for any person wishing to be a Marine.

Also, these requirements may include education level, citizenship, and physical ability.

The 0300 MOS includes a requirement of an 80 in the General Technical section of the ASVAB test.

0300 MOS Training and Career Path

After boot camp, the second phase of Marine military training is the School of Infantry.

In the Marines, all members are considered riflemen, and those with the 0300 MOS train at the Infantry Training Battalion (ITB) while the other Marines train in combat skills at the Marine Combat Training Battalion (MCT Bn).

Also, the School of Infantry (SOI) is a transition into the professional training of combat-ready Marines.

This professional training for the 0300 MOS is 59 days in length.

Furthermore, during this training, the first couple of weeks are the necessary skills all Marines learn.

After that, Marines with the 0300 MOS designation go on to receive advanced training in combat marksmanship, how to identify explosive devices, how to fight in urban settings, patrolling, grenades, to name just a few.

Furthermore, the next part of training is when marines with the 0300 MOS designation learn the specifics of their MOS designation within the 0300 MOS.

After meeting the basic requirements all Marines meet and the completion of boot camp, Infantry Marines attend advanced training.

As their training nears completion, these Marines receive specific designations within the 0300 MOS, such as Machine Gunner or Anti-tank Missileman.

The pay for this position is the same for all Marines as it is based on rank and time in service.
