About La Quinta

La Quinta was founded in 1968 by two brothers named Sam and Phil Barshop in San Antonio, Texas.

The first hotel had a convenient location across from a San Antonio attraction called the World’s Fair, so the name got out quickly.

Over the years, La Quinta continued to be enjoyed by their guests, and they grew into an international chain.

Today, the hotel chain is owned by a larger company called Wyndham Hotels.

La Quinta works with the slogan, “Relax. Refresh. Recharge.” Their rooms come equipped with television and free wifi. Free breakfast and the ability to bring pets along are offered at most of their locations as well.

What Is The Official La Quinta Military Discount?

As we mentioned earlier, La Quinta is owned by Wyndham Hotels. Because of this, the Wyndham Hotels military discount works at all La Quinta locations nationwide.

This deal gives military members 12% off of the “Best Available Rate” at the time of booking.

This is an extremely generous discount, as many major hotel chains only offer a percentage off of their normal rates. The La Quinta military discount makes sure service members are actually getting the best deal possible.

Along with this percentage off, military members are able to receive on automatic upgrade on their Wyndham Rewards account, which earns points at La Quinta locations (and the points can be used at La Quinta, as well).

The Military Rewards Account Upgrade lets military members start at the “Gold” level, instead of having to earn their way there. This allows them to earn points toward free stays faster.

The upgrade also gives them 1000 free points after their first hotel stay, and provides access to special perks, such as a priority member services phone number.

How To Use This Deal:

The instructions for this deal can be a little confusing on the La Quinta website, but with the instructions below you’ll be able to use the deal quickly and easily.

Step 1: If you do not have a Wyndham Hotels Rewards account yet, create one here.

*If possible, stay signed into your account. This way, you won’t have to sign back in during the next step.

Step 2: Verify your military status on your Wyndham account by clicking here.

*You don’t need any official documents or information for this step. It’ll simply ask you to choose your current military status and your branch. It will automatically save this information to your Wyndham Rewards account.

Step 3: Reserve your hotel room on La Quinta’s website. You can book a room from their home page, here. During the booking process, be sure to check check “Military/Veteran” from the drop down menu labelled “Rate Applied.”

Step 4: Bring a valid military or veteran ID card with you when you check into your room to finalize your savings

Who Can Claim This Deal?

The La Quinta military discount is available to all current military members, including those who serve in all five branches, and members of Active Duty, the Reserves, and the National Guard.

Past military members, including both veterans and retired military members, can claim the deal.

Even spouses of current military members are able to take advantage of this discount.

Unfortunately, it is not available to other military family members, such as dependents, at this time.

What Are The Restrictions?

The La Quinta/ Wyndham Hotels military discount does have a few restrictions that you will need to keep in mind when you go to use the deal.

First, the 12% off cannot be combined with any other savings or promotions. However, it should always be close to the best deal (if not the best) anyway, since the percentage is taken off of the “Best Available Rate” price.

You will also want to make sure that you purchase your stay through your Wyndham account on the La Quinta website. If you book your room through a third-party travel site, you will not be able to use this deal.

The Military Gold Upgrade Offer is only available to new rewards members. If you are already a Gold, Silver, or Platinum member, your level will stay the same when you add your military verification to your account.

The military deal is only available on new bookings, so you will want to make sure you use it right away when you book your stay. If you book your room at full price, you cannot go back and add the deal later.

Group bookings are not eligible for the military deal.

The 12% off deal applies to double occupancy rooms only.

When you book your room, you must use a credit card in order for the military deal to go through. Also, as we mentioned earlier, you need to show a military ID at check-in to finalize your savings.

The deal is not available during blackout dates, which are set by individual locations. Because of this, if you are traveling during a high-traffic time of year, such as near a major holiday or in the same city a large sports event is taking place, you’ll want to call the location ahead of time to see if your military deal will work.

Lastly, all military deals are subject to availability, and the terms and conditions can change at any time, according to La Quinta’s website. If you have any concerns on whether or not you’ll be able to use the deal, you’ll want to contact the location you’ll be staying at. They will be able to answer any questions you may have.
