Guitar Center is a specialty store that sells high-end musical instruments and equipment.
Unfortunately, finding info on their military discount was difficult, to say the least.
Some sites, like Military.com, claim that they offer a 10% discount.
Other sources, like SheerID, claim that the discount is no longer active.
Since we couldn’t get a straight answer, we decided to take it upon ourselves to chat with a Guitar Center customer service rep.
It turns out, they actually do offer a 10% discount for both active duty military and retired.

About Guitar Center
Guitar Center was founded by a man named Wayne Mitchell in 1959, though the store began under the name, “The Organ Center.”
This store found success, moved locations, began selling amplifiers, moved again, and finally became the Guitar Center we know today in 1971.
Today, Guitar Center sells a variety of musical instruments and equipment, from guitars, pianos, and percussion instruments, to amplifiers and studio recording and DJ equipment.
They host classes and music lessons to help their customers move toward their music-related goals as well.
Guitar Center now has over 300 stores across the United States and has been in business for over 50 years.
They aim to help “musicians and non-musicians alike,” teachers, and students.
They know the joy that comes from creating music, and they want to play a key role in spreading that joy across the country.
They sell high-quality instruments, including brands like Fender, Gibson, Alvarez, Vic Firth, Ricordi, and more.
If you’re in need of musical supplies of any kind, they likely have what you need.

Guitar Center Military Discount Restrictions
The discount is redeemable by both active duty, veteran, and retired military personnel and applies to a single item in your purchase.
For example, if you were to buy a guitar and amplifier combo, you would only receive a discount on one or the other.
Luckily, the agent I spoke with said that they apply the military discount to the more expensive item.
Can I redeem it online?
This one is a bit tricky. The first Guitar Center representative said yes, you can also get the military discount online.
However, when I went to try and purchase an item, I didn’t see anywhere you could apply the discount.
So I decided to chat with them again, and the second chat representative said that the only way is to order directly through them (the chat agent themselves), and they can apply the discount.
In stores, on the other hand, you can simply present your military ID and you’ll be good to go.
You should know as well that the military discount applies to both active duty, as well as veteran and retired military.
Here are a few other ways you can save a few bucks at Guitar Center:
Bundles And Packs
One of the easiest ways to save at Guitar Center is to purchase what you need in a bundle or pack.
If you are starting your collection from scratch or beginning a new musical journey, there will be many products on your purchase list.
By buying all of these together instead of each item separately, you can get a good percentage-off deal.
Guitar Center sells a wide variety of bundles and packs.
For example, you can buy a piano along with a bench and music stand to save money.
If you’re looking to start recording music, you can buy a studio set with everything you need together in one pack.
