The chain was bought by Kroger, a well-known grocery store chain, in 1992.

However, there are still locations that carry the Fred Meyer name and sell the large number of products like Fred Meyer did when they were their own chain.

What Is The Official Fred Meyer Military Discount?

Fred Meyer offers a generous 10% off a variety of products for their military discount.

The discount is good on their private grocery brands, including the brands Fred Meyer, Kroger, Simple Truth, and more.

This is a great deal, since private brands are typically already cheaper than their competitors.

The discount is also good for most brands clothing of clothing, footwear, and accessories, most electronics, and most jewelry products.

The deal is good for all home purchases, including toys, auto, sporting goods, and garden products.

Fred Meyer also offers occasional military events.

Who Can Claim This Deal?

The Fred Meyer military discount can be used by all current military members.

This includes members of the Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard.

Those who serve in Active Duty, National Guard, or Reserve roles can take advantage of this deal.

The deal is also available to veterans and military family members.

The only catch to eligibility is that anyone who uses the deal needs to have a valid ID showing their current military status or relation.

What Are The Restrictions?

Fred Meyer limits certain products from being purchased with their military discount.

Cosmetic products are never sold at the military price.

Certain clothing brands, including Under Armor, Nike, and Carhartt cannot be used with the deal.

Produce purchases and items sold by the pound in the Deli, Meat and Seafood Department, or Bakery are not able to be purchased at the military price.

Non-private brand items in the following sections are not eligible for the deal:

  • Food
  • Pharmacy
  • Health and Beauty
  • Candy
  • Tabacco, Alcohol, and Quit Smoking products
  • Tickets

Purchases made at the gas station owned by Fred Meyer and money services performed by the Western Union that is located within many Fred Meyer stores are not eligible for the deal.

Licenses, fees, phone activation, mobile market phone purchases, US Forest Service passes, and gift cards will also not be discounted.

Restrictions from the military deal in the Jewelry department include various diamond collections, unmounted diamonds, class rings, Swiss watches and the watch outlet, personalized jewelry, Charity plush toys, clearance, amazing value deals, special value deals,  care and protection plans, and jewelry repair services.

On top of these product restrictions, Fred Meyer also does not allow the military discount to be stacked with any other deals or coupons.

Fred Meyer states that the military discount must be used at the time of purchase, and that they will not offer rain checks.
