Financial Management Technicians (36B) are responsible for things such as accounting, finances budget reporting and disbursing of government funds.

This position works in an office setting and teaches you skills in finance management.

Qualifications,Training and Duty Stations

This job position will teach you skills in finance management.

You will learn the basics of accounting principles and procedures as well as analyzing financial data.

You must start by passing the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) test.

These tests help the Army to decide what skills you might be good at.

You must pass with at least a score of 101 on the Clerical (CL) portion of the ASVAB.

The position for financial management technician trains you in accounting and budget systems.

You will learn to work with large sums of U.S. and foreign currencies to ensure that the Army’s finances continue running smoothly for all parties.

After you have you have completed all forms and enlisting for this entry level position you will enter boot camp (10 weeks of basic combat training) followed by 8 weeks of advanced individual training.

You will receive instruction with on the job (paid) learning, for accounting techniques.

These accounting skills with help train you in areas of the job such as reviewing contracts and invoices, and learning the ins and outs of financial services.

You will learn how payroll works as well as computation of pay and deductions.

What Does a Financial Management Technician (MOS 36B) Do?

The Financial Management Technician’s main duties are budgeting and accounting.

This also includes receiving documents and processing treasury checks.

Financial management is an important part of any operations. They make sure vendors get paid and financial obligations are met.

Whether its payment for invoicing or maintaining files and vouchers, the financial management technician is always on top of the numbers.

The duties require filing reports and making sure everything in the documents add up.

Your ability to safeguard money is instrumental to how the Army runs.

Many of the logistics worldwide require movements of money and tracking.

You will have to track all paid amounts/invoices and keep meticulous records.

It helps if you have great organization skills.

Since you will be working in an office you must also play well with others.

The overall position is one that is relaxed and provides flexible hours for both day and night shifts.

You will be taking care of commitment and obligation documents as well as all main accounting.

The financial management technician is crucial in making sure daily operations keep on track and that no funds go unaccounted for.

What Does a Financial Management Technician get Paid?

Like other military MOS’s, pay is based on rank and time of service.

The average person starting out makes about $20,000 per year and go as high as $80,000 depending on whether you join the Army or National Guard.

The National Guard tends to pay higher for this position.
