The United States Coast Guard, USCG, serves as the coastal defense and maritime law enforcement branch of the military. The USCG reports that it has over 40,000 members on active duty, and another 7,000 reservists.

All branches of the U.S. Military determine base pay based on two factors. 1) What ranking you have in the branch, and 2) how many years served.
