Education, Qualifications, and Training

Unit Supply Specialists (MOS 92Y) are the backbone of the U.S. Army.

They work behind the scenes like a number of other Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) making sure the base functions in full working order.

Education

The Army requires you to finish high school with a diploma or GED equivalent.

You must receive one of the above in order to enlist.

The Army recommends that you have an interest in math, accounting, business administration, bookkeeping, and typing.

Secondly, you must complete the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB).

The ASVAB tests your knowledge and skills across every major field of education as well as specialized skills related to the Army.

In order to work as an Army Unit Supply Specialist (MOS 92Y) you must score Clerical (CL): 90 or higher.

Qualifications

Your record needs to be clean of conviction by court-martial or state or federal court. It also must be free of any juvenile adjudication by a state court.

It may be possible to have these types of disqualifications waived by a military review board.

However, a conviction for criminal offenses that are designed as a misdemeanor or felony cannot be waived.

Training

Army training begins at boot camp, or Basic Combat Training (BCT), which lasts 10 weeks.

Boot camp is designed to see if you have what it takes to adapt to a military lifestyle, even in a non-combat role.

Once you survive boot camp, you will progress to Advanced Individual Training (AIT).

Advanced Individual Training for an Army Unit Supply Specialist (MOS 92Y) lasts eight weeks.

It is relatively short compared to AIT for other types of MOS, and learning is a combination of classroom studies and on-the-job instructions.
