Operation: Military Kids (OMK) in Ohio reaches out to youth with a deployed family member to create community support networks through a variety of educational, social, and recreational program:
- Camps for military youth, teens, and families are a highlight throughout the year.
- Hero Packs made by 4-H members and other youth groups are distributed to youth when their parent is deployed.
- The Speak Out for Military Kids Team is a group of youth who are getting the message out about the situations faced during deployment.
- Training programs on needs of military youth are available.
- A Mobile Technology Lab is available for military youth programs.
These activities help youth to make connections with others, build skills, and find positive meaning in their situation. We are looking to expand these events around the state through regional teams. Please contact us if you are interested in supporting military youth in your part of the state.
OMK partners include Ohio 4-H Youth Development, Ohio National Guard, U.S. Army Reserve Child & Youth Services (88th RRC), The American Legion, Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCA, Collegiate 4-H, Marine Corps Family Support Community, Ohio Veterans Association, Ohio Attorney General's Office, and the USO. Please contact us if you are interested in becoming part of the OMK State Team or a regional team.
